Pull up a chair. Whoever you are, and whatever kind of day you are having, there is a warm drink, something to eat and a friendly face waiting for you. It is all free.

A place where you belong

You do not need to be a churchgoer or a regular to join us. Come in for a drink, stay for a chat, or simply enjoy some company on a Wednesday evening.

Come as you are

There is no dress code, no expectation and no judgement. You are welcome here exactly as you are.

A seat for everyone

Come on your own, with friends or with family. There is always room at the table and someone to talk to.

Always free

There is nothing to pay. Our food and drink are given freely to everyone who comes through the door.

Can I come if…?

Yes. Here are the questions people most often ask.

…I am not a Christian?

Of course. You do not need to attend church, and nobody will ask what you believe.

…I am coming on my own?

Many people do. Let us know it is your first visit, and we will introduce you to a few friendly faces.

…I cannot pay anything?

You never need to. Everything we serve is free, for everyone, every week.

…I do not want to be preached at?

You will not be. If you would like someone to pray with you, please ask.

Our story

The Café of Hope is run by a small team of Christians and volunteers from New Life Church. We started it because we wanted a place in Bishop's Stortford where anyone could feel at home, whatever their background, beliefs or circumstances.

Our faith is the reason we do this, but you will never be preached at. We simply try to love our neighbours well, with good food, a listening ear and a warm welcome.

If you would ever like someone to pray with you or for you, please ask. It is always your choice, and it is always confidential.
